Klim snowmobile and motorcycle gear goes global
Klim snowmobile and motorcycle gear is leaving tracks in the international market of outdoor sporting gear.
Snowmobiling or sledding is growing, and so is the industry of sportswear.
Klim designs and manufactures riding gear across the globe.
They are based out of Rigby, and don’t have plans to leave.
John Summers, a marketing manager for Klim, said, “We love this community. The people here are hardworking they have a very strong work ethic and on top of that we live in the best place in the world to go snowmobiling, be able to go ride our motorcycles. This is the best testing ground in the world.”
When coming up with their designs, they keep the customers in mind.
Jorge Spat, an industrial designer for Klim said “I think as a company they’re always trying to improve the riding experience to make it better.”
One developer who has worked for the company for a year and half said she likes designing for the riders.
Pat Beernink, developer for Klim, said,”Riders are very adventurous and passionate. And the fabrics are technical and you get to put all that together with the fit of the garment and the function.”
Summers also added, “It’s not just something they wear, it’s got to keep them dry, it’s got to keep them warm, it’s got to keep them cool, it’s got to protect them from the elements.”
Summers said the gear you have with you for these kinds of extreme sports is what you may have to rely on to survive. “You’ve got to trust your gear.”
So far, they have 100 employees, and hope to continue to grow.
They are hosting an open house Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Top riders in the industry will be stopping by to show their support.
