ISU sports science dept. receives grant for human performance lab
Idaho State University recently purchased new CosMed equipment by a funded award $30,000 by the ISU graduate school. This new equipment will be used for research projects for students to test human performance, aerobic ability, and physical fitness.
The department was trained to use the new equipment and software by CosMed, which specializes cardiopulmonary and metabolic equipment. Students now have a chance to work with competitive state-of-the-art equipment.
Mike Myers, Associate professor of the Department of Sports and Science says students will also be given an opportunity to showcase human performance research regionally and nationally.
“It’s open to athletes, students, and the community,” said Myers.
The Human Performance Lab comes with numerous testing programs for the body, all ranging from $15 to $170.
