Bus transportation issue with School of Choice?
The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District will hold a informational meeting Wednesday night at Education Center inside the district building. The meeting will give insight for incoming 9th graders who wish to go to a high school of their choice for the upcoming school year. Director of Secondary Education Jan Harwood says the only concern parents may have with it is, transportation to the school of their child’s choosing if it’s out of their boundary zone.
Harwood says there’s many more advantages to the School of Choice option, and that, it is only open to 8th graders going into high school within district 25.
She says students being able to stay with their friends is among the many, while being able to do better academically as well.
“High school principals always say go to a high school that makes you feel like you’re at home,” said Harwood.
She says if parents have concerns with the change of transportation modes due to moving their child to their high school of choice, they should attend the meeting Wednesday at 6:30p.m.
She says if parents are unable to attend the meeting, there will be a second meeting on Thursday.
