Actor Jim Lucas speaks at White Pine Charter School about Martin Luther King Jr., race issues
A critically acclaimed actor known for his portrayals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at White Pine Charter School Friday afternoon.
Jim Lucas talked to school children about King’s life, the civil rights movement and race issues that are around today. He travels around the world speaking at all types of schools about these issues. Lucas says he wants to help people by spreading King’s message. He says communication is key to ending racism.
“There probably isn’t a person existing who doesn’t have some question in their mind with regard to race, and they want to talk to somebody about it,” Lucas said. “Well I’m just saying talk. Go ahead and ask someone.”
Lucas will be the keynote speaker at the 10th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. banquet in Idaho Falls at the Shilo Inn.
