Former Malad coach sentenced to 8 years probation

Former Malad coach Amanda Jo Ward, 35, was in court Friday morning, where the judge sentenced her to 8 years of probation and 100 hours of work probation for having a relationship with a 16-year-old female student.

Within the eight year probation, the judge ordered her to not come in contact with any females ages 12-17.

Ward was also placed on the Idaho Sex Offenders list as non-violent and a non-risk. She will also be fined $1,075 for a pyscho-sexual evaluation she was tested for after the arrest was made. Results to that test ruled her out as unlikely to repeat her crime.

She apologized to the court, to her family, and to the student’s family Friday, as she is still undergoing counseling.

Ward was dismissed from Malad High School in May as soon as the investigation had started through Franklin County.
