Jefferson County prosecutor to be full-time position
Jefferson County Commissioners signed a resolution Monday that will make the county prosecutor’s office a full-time position. The action takes effect in the next elected term beginning in 2017.
The commission did not set the prosecutor’s salary. That will be negotiated in cooperation with the new prosecutor in January.
The board also decided not to set the number of deputies that would work with the prosecutor or whether those positions would be full or part-time. Those decisions will also be made in cooperation with the elected prosecutor next year.
So far, two Rigby attorneys have announced they will run for Jefferson prosecutor this year. They are Ashley Graham and Paul Butikofer. At least one other petition of candidacy is out. Candidates may begin filing for office on Monday.
