Idaho Republican Primary voting concerns
With the Idaho Republican primary March 8th, the election offices are already getting a number of calls from confused voters.
The election office at the Bannock County Court House provides maps with the counties divided up into precincts to determine where you’ll be voting.
“The biggest concern is having to affiliate with the party in order to vote that ballot – constitution or republican,” said Elections Administrator Julie Hancock.
A portion of idaho voters will go to the polls and vote for a republican and a constitution candidate. While doing so, Hancock says going to the correct location to vote is a must.
“You have to vote in your precinct. So if you live in precinct one, you have to go to that precinct. You can’t pick a random polling place and go there to vote, you have to be listed in the book for that poll precinct. It’s very important people vote in the correct precinct.”
Voting can all be so simple, but make sure you’re registered, first and foremost, with a registration form.Second, make sure you know what party you are voting for: democrat or republican. Last, an absentee ballot if you should need it. That is, if you want to vote but won’t be able to make it to a location.
“If you as a democrat chose to participate in a republican primary, you can’t attend the democratic caucus. It’s one or the other,” said Hancock.
Which might be the ultimate question for the presidential election year… Or…Why you should even vote in the first place. HoweverHancock says the more you are educated on voting, the better off you will be.
March 22nd, the democrats will hold a caucus to nominate either Hilary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.
