More construction coming to Lincoln Road
Construction is underway for the new Lincoln Road bridge.
Bonneville county says it is the worst bridge and road in the County.
Some people who live in the area are happy about the construction but say more needs to be done to Lincoln Road.
“I can remember that bridge ever since I can remember you know,” Shellie Garn.
Garn still lives in the house she grew up in.
Bonneville county is reconstructing the bridge outside of Garn’s house.
A failing bridge isn’t the only issue on the road.
Garn says she can’t turn left out of her driveway.
“It’s frustrating to sit there and you can’t go, you know you just feel like pulling out but you can’t do that,” Garn said.
Bonneville County is looking into widening the road.
Commissioner Roger Christensen tells Local News 8/KIDK Eyewitness News that engineers are conducting studies on the road.
The county is trying to determine whether the road east of the roundabout should be expanded to a three or four lanes.
Christensen expects a decision to be made this fall.
The bridge alone will cost the county nearly $1 million dollars.
Christensen said this year’s gas tax is helping with road funding.
