State board approves ISU’s mission statement change

Idaho state university is revising its mission statement and core themes. It received approval by idaho’s state board of education on February 18th in boise.

After their annual report, the board found that core themes in the mission were correct,it’s just the language inside the themes needed clarification.

The opportunity to make changes was available to not only staff and faculty but to students as well. The institution effectiveness and assessment council then considered all of the feedback when completing the draft. But making the mission statement a better product for everyone was the goal.

“Part of that revision process was objectives and indicators for each of our core themes and how we’re going to access our performance and the changes that were made will feed into our strategic plan that we’ll be working on this fall,” said Selena Grace, Assoc. V.P of Institutional Effectiveness in Meridian.

Grace says that strategic plan will be designed to be more transparent and inclusive than before.
