Air show coming to Idaho Falls will depend on cost to the city
The air show might come back to Idaho Falls next summer but it will depend on how much it will cost the city.
Right now, that price tag is just under $175,000.
The air show committee has asked the city for some help with everything from directing traffic to the city providing emergency services tousing the airport which is city owned. Some of the needs won’t cost the city, but others do.
“To hire people, to have them on hand, that is where the council has yet to make a decision. I think there is a great deal of support for the air show as a concept amongst the council members,” Mayor Rebecca Casper said. ” But when it comes to the dollars and cents, council members have a responsibility to weigh their stewardship that they have over city dollars.”
Mayor Casper said the funds needed for the air show is about four times what it costs for a Fourth of July celebration.
The mayor said the air show committee told the city council it needs to know within four to six weeks if this can happen.
