Rocky Mountain Power makes large donation to Idaho Food Bank
The Idaho Food Bank says 55,000 struggling people in Eastern Idaho are going hungry; 21,000 of those are children.
But thanks to a donation Tuesday afternoon from Rocky Mountain Power, the Idaho Food Bank can really lower those numbers.
The power company presented the food bank with a check for $10,000. That’s enough for 40,000 meals for families all throughout the eastern region.
This is the third year in a row Rocky Mountain Power has given the food bank a donation. Rebecca Ristrom, the eastern regional manager for Idaho Food Bank, said every dollar it gets goes a long to way to feeding families, but it’s hard to ask people for money. Ristrom said that’s why community support is so important.
“When we have community members and foundations and the public that come in and give us money, it means the world to us,” Ristrom said. “We couldn’t do what we do without them.”
Rocky Mountain Power said it loves being able to get involved with, and help, the community. It plans to keep donating to the food bank as long as it can.
