Two honored at Workers Memorial
Everyday, an average of 13 workers die in workplace-related accidents. In 2014, 4,700 workers died on the job. At Freeman Park Saturday , two men were added to the East Idaho Workers Memorial. Josh Clifford and Jeff Boyd were working for Brady’s at the time of the accident that killed them.
By the joint effort of city councils, unions, and workers themselves the number of workplace deaths can decrease. It’s a responsibility to maintain regulations and work to create a safer workplace. Those who spoke at the memorial can all agree that no man or woman should go to work wondering if they’ll return home that night.
“It takes everybody, even us doing our homework and our home jobs,” said David Clifford, father of the fallen worker.”We need to think about some of the things we put ourselves in danger of.”
Mayor Rebecca Casper read her proclamation, which declared Saturday as Workers Memorial Day and promised to work harder to keep the workplace safer.
