Target’s new bathroom policy fuels controversy
A petition to boycott Target stores across the nation now has more than 900,000 signatures.
The controversy comes after Target announced a bathroom policy that allows customers to use the bathroom designated for the gender they identify with.
The petition was started by American Family Association, a Christian nonprofit group out of Mississippi.
Those who oppose the new policy claim that it allows a man or woman to walk into whatever bathroom they choose.
Some are calling it “dangerous” for children and women.
However, some members of the LGBT community are calling it a policy for equality.
Tonight on Local News 8/KIDK Eyewitness News at 10 find out what a local woman who is transgender thinks about the policy.
