SRAS celebrates Idaho Gives Day

A local group of families and animal lovers marched with cats and dogs to the four-legged anthem “Who Let the Dogs Out” to celebrate Idaho Gives Day.

This day of giving is officially on May 5, but the Snake River Animal Shelter wanted to throw its own party Saturday.

Idaho Gives Day promotes the support of a nonprofit in your area. And the Snake River Animal shelter hopes this early gathering will spread the word and influence community members to give back.

The animal shelter has the Idaho Falls community to thank for all of its success thus far.

“Our adoption numbers are fantastic. We’ve been almost able to adopt out 350 animals in just the nine months that we’ve been open. The community has been really supportive, been really grateful for the soft hearts out there that remember in the animals in need,” Executive Director Kristin Sanger said.

The Snake River Animal Shelter opened in August to support neglected and abused domestic animals. The shelter runs entirely off of donations and sponsorships, and would love to have people volunteer or adopt an animal that needs a home.
