EIPH bringing awareness to childern’s mental health issues
Eastern Idaho has the highest number of child suicides in the state, according to the Suicide Prevention Action Network.
“If we can become more aware of what the symptoms of suicide are and start talking about it,” Teriann Parker, chairman of the Children’s Mental Health Committee said. “Maybe we can prevent more of what is happening.”
Eastern Idaho Public Health is trying to start that conversation. Tuesday it is hosting an event to educate people on children’s mental health. There will be six experts speaking about depression, bullying, stigma, trauma recovery, anxiety and suicide prevention for children.
Those conversations will happen from 2:30 to 4:30 and then again from 5:30 to 7:30. It will be held at Eastern Idaho Public Health 1250 Hollipark Drive in Idaho Falls.
