ISU students making concrete plans after graduation

Seniors did their official “March Through the Arch” Friday to indicate their exit.
The goal was to symbolize the completion of education and re-entry into the world.

In 2000, a tradition was started, known as “Marching Through the Arch” at Idaho State University.
Which is for incoming freshmen and outgoing seniors.

Senior Bengals looked alive at the “March Through the Arch” luncheon, as they expressed their plans for after graduation.

“So, on Sunday my wife and I are moving to Montana and I’ll be doing wild fire training this Summer. And then plan on taking a year off to get on the ambulance crew. And then do paramedics school later on,” said Chris Cox, graduating senior.

Some students all over the country have been known to finish a degree but not pursue it as a career.
Spending a lot of time and money on something they did nothing with after college. But cox says on the contrary, the college degree still helps them out in the long run.

“Because college isn’t just about a degree, it’s about learning how life works as well. You learn just different opportunities. I came in wanting to learn how to own and operate a youth camp and did an internship, and realized i didn’t want to do that,” said Cox.

Graduating senior, Maria Luna says she wants to pursue a career in accounting. She isn’t so concrete with her plans. But she’s sure of where she will reside to find that job…Washington D.C.

“I like the city, i like something different. I think it’ll be a good experience. I always wanted to go to the east coast, some secret place,” said Luna.

After this Spring semester alone, over 2,500 degrees will be handed out. Which does include some of those graduating with double-majors.

We want to wish a big congratulations to the entire ISU class of 2016!

Graduation ceremonies start at 10a.m. Saturday at Holt Arena.
