Students grew flowers for Mother’s Day
Rimrock Elementary School students were excited to try out their green thumbs in preparation for Mother’s Day. The kids grew and cared for these flowers and decorated the pots all on their own.
“These are zinnias and we started growing them in February. We put them under a heating pad, too. And we’re going to give them to our moms for Mother’s Day,” says fourth-grade student Tyson Seymour.
The school’s greenhouse was the perfect place for the students to plant and harvest their flowers.
The students also started growing other types of seeds, but they feel fulfilled knowing they grew something special for their mothers. Seventy-five fourth-grade students at Rimrock Elementary planted their own seeds.
“It was a cool project and they all wanted to be the first ones to pick their flowers to put in it so it was fun, and I think that take a lot of pride ’cause they all love their parents,” said fourth-grade teacher Julie Abbott.
There are many reasons why moms are so great, and these fourth-graders had no problem sharing why their own mothers were special.
“She does a lot of things for me, and she is the best mom ever,” says fourth-grade student Paige Davenport. “I think she’ll really like these pots and flowers that we made for them. She’s a really nice mom, my favorite,” said fourth-grade student Anneliesa Cannon.
If you’re still trying to think of a great Mother’s Day gift, getting her something like handpicked flowers or a handmade gift are good ways to go.
