More than 1,000 flags flying at the Field of Honor at Freeman Park
More than 1,000 flags are flying at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls for Memorial Day.
Volunteers came out Friday to set-up the display.
People can sponsor a flag for $30 to honor a hero. Proceeds from donations go to help local veterans, their families, victims of child abuse and community crime prevention efforts.
It’s also a way to say “thank you” to the veterans.
“Patriotism is something that’s learned, and there are so many of our vets that are dying,” Project Chairman Bill Sewell said. “We want to continue this as an anchor for Memorial Day particularly to show our gratitude for those that gave their all.”
This is the fourth year this has been done at Freeman Park. It’s hosted by the Idaho Falls Exchange Club and the City of Idaho Falls.
