BYU-Idaho creates new office to look toward the future
Brigham Young University is rapidly growing and the school wants to make sure they are prepared for the future. A new office is being created called the Strategy and Research Office. The office will organize enrollment data and other information to help with future growth on campus.
BYU-Idaho’s Media Relations Manager Brett Crandall said, “It’s a new office inside of our executive office and administration and it’s in charge of taking institutional data and helping us to plan for future growth here at the university.”
The school is also working with Rexburg city developers to ensure projected plans are organized.
Rexburg Mayor Jerry Merrill said the key is communication.
“We’re trying to encourage developers to develop in the right area’s and in places that make sense so we avoid traffic problems such as parking which come along with having more people,” Merrill said.
Statistics released for Spring semester 2016 show a total campus enrollment of 14,694 students, an increase of 6.9 percent over last spring’s campus enrollment of 13,742.
This semester the campus student body consists of 7,283 males students and 7,411 female students.
The school is currently working on several construction projects including accommodating more student living.
