Target bathroom policy protested
The group Faith2Action is holding a nationwide protest against Target’s bathroom policy. Supporters gathered at the discount retailer’s store in Ammon, calling Saturday “Don’t Target Our Daughters Day.”
“It’s not right to force this kind of restroom policy on people,” Peggy Merkle said. “I have a 13 year-old daughter and she doesn’t want to go into any restrooms hardly at all by herself.”
They are asking for other supporters to “make Target’s bathroom’s safe.” Protesters say they love their Target stores, and don’t want to see this become a bigger issue, but something needs to change. Faith2Action President Janet Porter said there have been incidents of registered sex offenders violating women and filming in children’s fitting rooms since the announcement.
“I think it’s wrong that we have to be worried about who might be in the restrooms with us,” Merkle said. “I think it’s wrong. There should have been something else done if they wanted to please the LGBT and trans gender group.”
Faith2Action says Target’s $10 billion drop in stock values and the boycott pledge including more than 1 million people isn’t a coincidence
