Community College Study results released

The community college study panel released that report today on how converting Eastern Idaho Technical College to a community college would benefit the region.

One thing the study shows is that it would help grow the local economy. For example, about 900 jobs would be created and sustained if EITC is converted to community college.

“For every dollar we spend in education,” President of EITC Rick Aman said. “There is almost a $6 return in the economy because of all of the components that go into this kind of an institution so we’ve got salaries, and vendors.”

Converting EITC to a community college would cost some money. The state has already set aside $5 million for this. But a taxing district would still be needed in Bonneville county to raise an additional $800,000.
