War Bonnet Roundup Rodeo to kick off Wednesday
Idaho’s oldest rodeo is getting ready to kick off Wednesday night. Idaho Falls is gearing up for the 150th Annual War Bonnet Roundup Rodeo. This is the first year the city of Idaho Falls is running the rodeo.
“This year, we transferred the management of the rodeo with the American Legion. So we are still working very very closely with the board, we’re just now the umbrella organization instead of the American Legion,” said Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation director Greg. A. Weitzel.
The event has over 50 sponsors and over 150 volunteers that helped make this annual event possible for all people to enjoy.
“This is a legacy, really. One hundred and five years – the oldest rodeo in Idaho – that’s something to be proud of. It’s not about making money for us. Of course, we’d like to be able to break even at the minimum. And if we make a little money, we would like it to go back to Sandy Downs arena,” said Weitzel.
The Rodeo’s main events include America’s Got Talent Finalist, Loop Rawlins, barrel man clowns, bullfighting and much more.
Idaho Falls is grateful for the opportunity to put on the historic War Bonnet Roundup Rodeo this year.
The rodeo will start nightly at 8pm Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $20 at the gate or $18 if bought early, and there are even cheaper prices for kids.
