Box Elder fire forces east Idaho air quality advisory
An air quality advisory has been posted for Bannock, Bear Lake, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida, and Power Counties for degraded air quality.
The Stage 1 Forecast and Caution bans all open burning of any kind. Gas grills and charcoal briquettes are allowed.
The Pocatello office of the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality said the caution was prompted due to potentially significant wild fire smoke from the Broad Mouth fire in Box Elder County, Utah.
The department has lowered air quality to the “moderate” category due to fine particulate matter from the fire.
The advisory will remain in effect through the weekend and will be reevaluated on Monday.
