“Operation Kidsafe” plans to reduce missing children
According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, nearly 800,000 children are reported missing every year in the U.S.
Saturday in Pocatello “Operation Kidsafe” is hoping to reduce that number.
“I’ve got two boys. One of them came down already and got finger printed. He’s 13, wasn’t too excited about the picture part, but I told him in the long run, it’ll help him,” said Jessica Haubert, Customer Relations, Phil Meador Toyota.
The event took place at the Toyota dealership, where parents got to record their children’s finger prints and pictures. Parents were able to keep these as a safety reference in case their child is ever reported missing.
“They start a year up. They can do finger prints on babies. But generally it’s a year and older and also special needs adults as well,” said Haubert.
Haubert says this is their first year holding this operation, and they hope to make it an often thing for the community.
