Your child’s safety at school is probably your biggest priority, but there’s one important safety step you might be overlooking.

Make sure all emergency contact information is up to date. Nationally, between 1/5 and 1/4 of all student data is not current, according to Idaho education officials. Local schools have run into this problem as well.

“People don’t even think about it,” Robyn Elswood, principal of Sunrise Elementary in Shelley said. “They change jobs, or they get a new cell phone and, you know, we’re kind of the last on the list to think of to tell that, you know, they’ve changed their number. And so we really need to be the first on the list.”
