Why Ririe Reservoir and Blacktail is closed for the Henry’s Creek Fire

Many have asked and wondered why Ririe Reservoir and Blacktail Park are closed with the fire currently quite some distance from them.

In an press release Wednesday afternoon, Sgt. Bryan Lovell said the reason is that teams are using the reservoir and Blacktail Park as a staging area and as a water resource to fight the fire.

“Anyone in that restricted area will shut down air operations and the ability to fight this fire, putting more people and personnel at risk,” says Lovell. “This is also the case with drones and any ATV or UTV equipment headed into the closed area. We continue to ask the public to stay away from the fire areas for safety and so crews can navigate and work efficiently.”

As a reminder the following areas are still closed while teams fight the fire:

Blacktail Road
Johnson Road
Meadow Creek Road
Antelope Creek Road
Fall Creek Road
Skyline Ridge area
Ririe Reservoir and Blacktail Park

Sunnyside Road is now open but Bone Road is still closed off.
