Power restored in Rexburg, Rigby area
UPDATE 8/29/16 12:15 p.m.: Rocky Mountain Power said power has been restored to all customers affected by this morning’s outage.
UPDATE 8/29/16 10:45 a.m.:
Approximately 16,492 customers of Rocky Mountain Power were without power early Monday as crews worked to repair two conductors.
Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen said a line worked out of a conductor on a 69 kilovolt transmission line and hit another power line, creating a small fire on a pole about half a mile west of the company’s Thornton substation. The Madison Fire Department put the fire out at 5:24 a.m.
Eskelsen said the power company re-routed electricity to restore power to the Rexburg and Rigby area at 6:49 a.m.
Repair work should restore power to the remaining 1,300 customers affected by the power outage by 1 p.m. Monday.
UPDATE 8/29/16 7:30 a.m.: Rocky Mountain Power reported over 1,300 customers are without power. Down from the 16,000 customers earlier. They also said the estimated restoration time will be 1 p.m. for those customers.

Over 16,000 people (16,492) are without power this morning.
The lights went out just before 5:15 a.m. for people in Rexburg and Rigby area.
Rocky Mountain Power said a transmission interruption is to blame for the problem.
Power crews are working to fix the issue.
Service is expected to be restored by 9 a.m., they reported.
