Henry’s Creek Fire 90% contained, crews working to suppress
The Henrys Creek Fire didn’t increase in size Monday.
They said the fire is 90% contained as of Tuesday morning. It has burned nearly 53,000 acres since it started.
262 personnel are assigned to the fire, down from the 400 reported on Monday.
They said all road closures have been lifted with the exception of Meadow Creek Road.
The fire is mostly burning on the eastern side of the fire (see map) where crews are working to suppress the fire.
Smoke columns may be seen, as well as dust devils coming from the interior of the fire. They ask people not to report them to 911 since this is normal and will occur until either rain or snow completely puts out the fire.
The Henrys Creek Fire started Aug. 21 near Henrys Creek road south of Ammon and east of the Idaho Falls County Club estates.
It’s still unknown what exactly caused the fire, but believe it to be human caused.
No one has been injured from the fire, but did lose 2 storage sheds in the Kepps area.
