Tie Canyon fire now 44 percent contained
The Tie Canyon fire was estimated at 1,014 acres Tuesday morning. It is now 44 percent contained.
Additional hand crews and engines arrived Monday. They were put to work supporting water handling and fire line construction efforts.
Crews on the southern flank of the fire plumbed water lines, which firefighters can now use to extinguish hot spots. The hoses will reduce the need for aircraft support and speed containment efforts over the next few days.
