“I Love ISU” week kicks off Thursday
The “I Love ISU”campaign kicks off Thursday morning with a Before-Hours Breakfast.
“I Love ISU” is a scholarship fundraising effort for students. It involves callers reaching out to local community members willing to donate to ISU’s scholarship fund.
This is the 34th year the campaign has been done. In 2015, it raised $212,000 in scholarships.
Steven Muse, co-chair for the campaign, said he hopes to make at least $225,000 this year and he thinks they could even pass that.
He said the scholarships go to students who are Idaho residents, so it’s great that the community is investing locally.
“We want to make sure Idaho folks know that we have this university, we have so much homegrown talent and we want to invest in that homegrown talent so at the end of the day, they will be as vital as they possibly can and make a difference for all concerned,” Muse said.
Muse said they have great community participation. McDonald’s on 5th Street in Pocatello is also contributing to the fund. On Sept. 14, it will be donating 20% of its proceeds made between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The “I Love ISU”campaign runs until Sept. 15.
