Fire damages IF paint shop

Fire caused an estimated $10,000 damage to a structure that was being used as a paint shop.

The fire was reported at 5:14 p.m. at 2011 W. Heyrend Way.

Smoke was coming from the eves and roof of the shop when firefighters arrived.

Investigators believe the fire was caused either by radiant heat or an ember from a fireplace inside the building. They said that ember ignited floor mats which extended into the walls and ceiling.

There were no reported injuries.
