New Rigby police chief named

Sam Tower, who is currently a detective with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, will be the Rigby Police Department’s new chief starting Oct. 1 — according to Rigby mayor Jason Richardson.

Tower, who previously worked for the Rigby police for a decade, will be earning $50,500 a year.

The Rigby City Council fired Keith Hammon, the previous chief, in a unanimous vote in August. The City Council didn’t explain why he was fired, saying it was a personnel issue.
