Grass fire burns several hundred acres near Henry’s Creek “scar”

Firefighters are working to fully contain a grass and sagebrush fire in the Birch Creek Road area near US Highway 26. The fire began around noon Monday and was burning near the “scar” of the Henry’s Creek fire in August.

The fire, which started near a power pole, burned several hundred acres Monday afternoon.

Farm tractors were used to help disc a line around the fire. Firefighters from Jefferson Central, Ammon, the Bureau of Land Management, Ucon, and Swan Valley fire departments assisted in fighting the fire.
