Teton County road to get upgrade
Teton County, Wyoming Commissioners have approved a $245,600 contact with MD Nursery and Landscaping to construct slope erosion and drainage improvements.
The work is aimed at protecting the north section of Henry’s Road, about 7 miles south of Jackson, from erosion that could undermine the existing road surface.
The project will include installation of a concrete, fabric-lined ditch, dissipation and pipe drainage structures, grading, repairing the Squaw Creek culvert, and soil and landscaping work.
“It feels like a lot of money to spend, however, I think it is probably something we should undertake as a board,” said Commission Vice-Chair Mark Newcomb. “I think we should get the project completed, and I do think it needs to be done thoroughly and appropriately to meet the stands it needs to meet to ensure the long-term viability of the road.”
Teton County Road and Levee Manager Dave Gustafson said the project was necessary to prevent erosion from continuing to cut into the existing riverside slope. He said that could undermine the road and cause pavement failure in the future.
Henry’s Road serves four homes north of the Swinging Bridge and provides access to a gravel bike and walking path that connects to the base of Game Creek Road.
