Chubbuck continues to see growth in new business

Discount Tire in Chubbuck opened its doors on Monday. It’s the 13th business to open in Chubbuck in recent months.

Chubbuck mayor Kevin England said he believes all the recent growth is because businesses see the potential Chubbuck has to offer and want to build there.

He said the city tries to collaborate and work with each business to make them feel welcome in the community.

“I believe that we have provided in the city of Chubbuck a very pro-business climate,” England said. “We make sure to work closely with businesses as they come here and want to be part of our community, make sure that there isn’t inappropriate regulation in their way, and just work closely with them.”

England said the number of residential building permits is way up for 2016 and that’s a good thing for the city. It shows more people wanting to come and settle here.

He said he feels Chubbuck is a developing city and businesses want to be a part of that growth.

One area that’s seen the most improvement is the Pine Ridge Mall district. Several of the recent businesses are part of it. England said he attributes that growth largely to the new owners of the mall, and their drive to try and improve it.

“They came in with the attitude of not ‘if’ but ‘when.’ And they knew full well because of experience that they could turn this mall around and step by step that’s exactly what’s happening,” England said. England said because Pocatello works so closely with Chubbuck and have such a great relationship with each other, what benefits one city does benefit the other. So he said he’s just thrilled to see the attraction Bannock County offers for businesses.
