Popular radio DJ gets through hard times with a smile
A popular Disc Jockey in Eastern Idaho has been through a lot in the past years, he’s battled 12 life threatening surgeries and managed to walk out with a new perspective on life.
Radio personality for 100.7 MYfm, and father of two boys Dusty Bee has been in the music business for years, he’s the guy who chooses what you listen to on your car ride to work in the morning and your ride home. His well known fast paced voice reaches thousands of listeners a day.
In 2015, Bee was driving up the Malad pass heading to Logan to pick up his two sons when he sneezed and coughed at the same time. At that moment he felt a pop in his head, it turned out he created a hole through his dura into his sinus.
The result was a Cerebrospinal fluid leak, CSF bathes the brain and is contained within a lining around the brain called the dura. These intracranial structures within the brain cavity are also separated from the sinuses by bone.
Cerebrospinal fluid acts as a cushion or buffer for the brain’s cortex, providing protection to the brain inside the skull.
He was rushed to the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City for surgery, shortly after surgery he was still leaking cerebrospinal fluid and developed meningitis.
“I didn’t think this would ever happen to me,” Bee said.
