Phil Meador Toyota donates money to food bank for the holidays

According to the Idaho Food Bank, 53,000 people in Eastern Idaho have no idea where their next meal is coming from, and 23,000 of those are children under the age of 18.

On Thursday, the Idaho Food Bank in Pocatello got some help to try and lower those numbers.

Phil Meador Toyota presented the food bank with a check for $1,000. Rebecca Ristrem, manager of the food bank, said for every dollar donated, it can provide four meals to hungry people.

She said they usually see an increased need around this time of year. She said people are laid off from seasonal jobs, they can’t afford expenses for the holidays, etc. So Ristrem said this donation will go a long way.

“We’re so excited about any donations but this donation will provide 4,000 meals to Eastern Idaho and that’s very exciting, especially this time of year when we’re trying to provide hope for the holidays,” Ristrem said.”

The Idaho Food Bank oversees 16 counties in Eastern Idaho with families in need.
