Pocatello looking for pictures, stories of the Portneuf River

The city of Pocatello is looking for people to take a walk down memory lane for the Portneuf River Vision Study.

Hannah Sanger, the city’s science and environment division manager, said the city has a lot of photos of the river. However, they lack people interacting with it.

The city is especially looking for photos taken before 1969, since the concrete channels were completed that year. The city would even like people to contribute stories they have of their time at the river.

On Thursday, Pocatello City Council will consider a resolution to adopt the study at its meeting at 6 p.m. If adopted, it would start the implementation process for river projects. Public comment will not be taken at the meeting.
