Post-conviction hearings for Christopher Tapp delayed until April
In a hearing Tuesday, Judge Allen Stephens and the attorneys representing the state and Christopher Tapp agreed to postpone hearings for his post-conviction relief cases until April 2017.
The judge and attorneys agreed as well to discuss the two issues, the DNA testing and alleged false confession, during two separate weeks.
The first hearing will be held starting April 4 to discuss the DNA testing petition and will continue each weekday until April 10 as necessary. The second hearing on the alleged false confession will being April 24 and will go for four days. Experts are expected to testify in both hearings and Tapp will be in court for the proceedings.
These decisions come the week after the Bonneville Prosecuting Attorney issues his opinion on the findings of an independent investigation that led to the arrest and conviction of Christopher Tapp, for the murder of Angie Dodge.
Tapp’s attorney still has not commented on the prosecuting attorney’s report.
