2 Idaho electors to be replaced
Two of Idaho’s Republican four electors are set to be replaced Monday before casting their ballots for the president of the United States.
The Idaho Statesman reports that Layne Bangerter of Melba and Melinda Smyser of Parma will be replaced because they are constitutionally barred as federal employees from serving as electors.
Bangerter works for U.S. Mike Crapo and Smyser works for U.S. Sen. Jim Risch – both Idaho Republicans.
Rod Beck, who chaired Trump’s primary campaign, will replace Bangerter. Smyser’s husband, Skip, a lobbyist and former legislator, will take her place.
The electors will meet in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office, on the second floor of the Idaho Capitol. The event is open to the public.
