Law enforcement officer involved in Highway 20 crash

UPDATE 7:03 p.m.: Idaho State Police say a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy is okay after her car was hit from behind on Highway 20 and County Line Road.

State Police say the deputy was out of her car assisting with a slide off when her car was hit.

A total of four cars were involved in two separate crashes at the intersection. No one was hurt.

ISP says the biggest problem with slide-offs is north of Idaho Falls on Highway 20. Troopers are reminding drivers to slow down and give yourself extra time if traveling.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho State Patrol are responding to several accidents near Highway 20 and County Line Road near Rigby.

State Police tell KIFI/KIDK that there are a number of accidents in the area caused by slick conditions. A dispatcher did confirm a law enforcement officer was involved in one of the crashes. We do not know what department the officer is with or the conditions of anyone involved in the crashes.

Westbound traffic is being rerouted while crews work to clear the scene. The Idaho Transportation Department was requested to lay down brine to help with the slick conditions.

We have a reporter on the way to the area and will update this story as we get more information.
