Teton County names interim Fire/EMS Chief

Veteran firefighter Mike Moyer will become interim Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Chief beginning January 7, 2017. He’ll take over when current Fire/EMS Chief Willy Watsabaugh retires.

Moyer currently serves as a Battalion Chief for the department.

County Commission Administrator Alyssa Watkins said, “Mike Moyer has a great depth of experience, leadership, and knowledge and I know he’ll be very successful in that role.”

Moyer began working with the department in the fall of 1987 after previously working for emergency services in the state of Pennsylvania.

Moyer said he did not plan to seek to fill the position permanently, but is looking forward to helping to enable a smooth transition.

Watsabaugh announced his retirement in November.

Teton County will begin advertising and taking applications for a permanent replacement in January.
