Jackson adopts “host compliance” software

The Town of Jackson will purchase software called “Host Compliance” designed to help its staff enforce its short-term rental ordinance.

According to a staff report, “this cloud-based service aggregates statistics from more than 15 of the most popular web-based VRBO listing sites and services. VRBO is a vacation rental listings website. The software will provide a dashboard for planning staff to view short-term rental information filtered against Town zoning areas.”

The software includes rental property address identification, VRBO trend monitoring, compliance assistance and a telephone and email hotline. The Town Council agreed to an annual $10,146 contract.

The ordinance, approved in 2015, limits short-term rentals in an effort to preserve neighborhoods, increase employee housing inventory, and improve health and human safety expectations.
