Seagull Bay management plan out for public comment

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has opened a 15-day public comment period on a new management agreement for the Seagull Bay Recreation Area in Power County. The area is located on the eastern shoreline of American Falls Reservoir. The last management contract was a lease agreement with the Seagull Bay Yacht Club which recently expired. Current policy requires Bureau of Reclamation management partners to be public entities. Under the new agreement, Power County would contract with the Yacht Club to maintain daily operations at the site. It would allow the club to continue to offer season-long RV use of a portion of the recreation area. Public facilities would include a marina with slip rentals, RV camping, a venue for special events, and a clubhouse. “We know this recreation area is important to the public, so we look forward to their feedback,” said BOR Upper Snake Field Office manager Ryan Newman. The new management agreement is expected to be completed by the end of February. Members of the public can submit written comments to the Bureau of Reclamation, Margaret Bibbey, 470 22nd St., Heyburn, Idaho, 83336, postmarked no later than Friday, Feb. 10, to ensure proper consideration. Written comments must include the name of the commenter and a return address. If you do not want your contact information published, please indicate accordingly. Comments may also be sent via email at mbibbey@usbr.gov or given by phone at (208) 678-0461, extension 30.
