BYUI campus enrollment tops 18 thousand students
Student enrollment continues to climb at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Winter Semester enrollment statistics indicate 18,065 students are participating in on-campus classwork, a 2 percent increase over winter of 2016. Another 4,111 campus-based students are enrolled at the university but are taking online courses or fulfilling internships. Enrollment in BYUI online programs is also continuing to show rapid growth. There are more students working off-campus than are on-campus. The number of online students, which includes the Pathway program, numbers 20,941 students. That is an increase of 11.5 percent over Winter Semester 2016. BYU-Idaho credits the continued enrollment growth to a variety of factors. According to university surveys, those factors include the teaching focus of its faculty, common values, real-world preparation, and high-value educational experience. The on-campus student body is comprised of 9,314 male and 8,751 female students. 4,528 students are married, comprising 25.1 percent of the total campus population. 57.3 percent of the student body has served full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
