Two schools briefly placed under ‘controlled access’ during police incident

Two Pocatello schools were briefly placed under a ‘controlled access’ Monday because of a police incident in the area.

Highland High School and Gate City Elementary were placed under controlled access for about 5 minutes Monday afternoon while Pocatello Police responded to an incident near the schools.

Pocatello/Chubbuck School District leaders say that students were never in any danger and that the controlled access was a part of their standard operating procedure for when police activity happens near school grounds.

Pocatello Police have not released any information yet on the incident.
