Chubbuck McDonald’s holds McTeacher’s night
Wednesday night was McTeacher’s night at a Chubbuck McDonald’s.
Victoria Byrd, public relations for McDonald’s, said the restaurant holds multiple fundraisers each year for different schools. Wednesday night was for Wilcox Elementary.
Students could come eat with their teachers, see them in aprons and take pictures with them.
It ran from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a percentage of all proceeds McDonald’s raised in that time goes to Wilcox Elementary. Byrd said in those two hours, McDonald’s can usually bring in about $500 to $600.
Schools can use the money for any needs they have – books, technology, student incentives, anything.
Both Wilcox and McDonald’s said fundraisers like these are fun for everyone and can really benefit the schools.
“It’s wonderful,” said Brenda Miner, principal at Wilcox. “I couldn’t say enough good about our community here in Pocatello. McDonald’s and other companies are always very willing to help when it comes to education. And they do it for so many schools here in town and we’re just really fortunate that they’re here and part of our community.”
“It’s so neat for us to be able to participate in this because it’s so fun to see the kids interact with their teachers and they’re so excited to see them outside of the school,” Byrd said.
Byrd said McTeacher’s night is a corporate program. She said McDonald’s has been doing it for the Pocatello/Chubbuck school district since 2005. In that time, it has raised more than $80,000 for local schools.
