Three injured in three-vehicle crash during traffic slowdown on I-15

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on I-15 Friday afternoon while crews were responding to an crash just one mile down the road.

According to a report from the Idaho State Police, three vehicles were involved in a crash at milepost 84 that was caused by a traffic slow down while an accident at milepost 85 was being cleared from the road.

Kelli Downing, age 54, of Boise, ID, was driving northbound on I15 in a 2000 Toyota Camry. Downing had three passengers, Laura Simmons, age 39, of Boise, ID, Tammy Wilson, age 33, of Las Vegas, NV, and Jane Foreman, age 61, of Boise, ID. Colton Carter, age 21, of Livingston, MT, and his passenger Terry Carter, age 58, of Livingston, MT, were driving northbound in a 2003 Ford Taurus. Lydonna Stephenson, age 17, of Blackfoot, ID, was also driving northbound in a 2013 Chrysler 200.

Downing failed to yield for slowing traffic due to a crash at milepost 85. Downing collided with the rear of the 2003 Ford Taurus, pushing it into the 2013 Chrysler.

Downing’s three passengers were transported by ground ambulance to the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID.

Both northbound lanes of travel were blocked for approximately thirty minutes. The left lane of travel was blocked for an additional twenty minutes.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
