Idaho Falls community garden registration underway
This season’s sign-ups have begun for the Idaho Falls community garden. If you have a green thumb, you may want to register for your own spot in one of the three community gardens.
“We’re here today to register for the community garden. We’ve been coming every year to gather. So we all get together to register for our plots for the whole year,” community garden member Fidel Fernandez said.
The Idaho Falls Community Garden Association is accepting registrations for plots of gardening space within its three gardens in the city: Rollandet, Eastside and Westside. The plots are on a first-come-first-serve basis. For people who don’t have space to garden at home — a local father-son duo didn’t want to miss their chance at saving their spot.
“He kind of started off, then I joined him a little bit. It’s fun because I’m able to grow my own products — my own food. It also gives you a little bit of work experience kind of. It’s your own thing, you made it, you feel more proud about it all,” Fernandez’s son, Victor, said.
Wheelchair-accessible plots are also available. People are still able to register for a spot in the garden for the next couple of weeks — or for however long spots remain open.
