Construction work at 17th Street and Hitt Road to begin Monday

Starting Monday, April 10 crews from HK Contractors will begin work on the reconstruction of the 17th Street and 25th East (Hitt Road) intersection.

The cities of Idaho Falls and Ammon will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday at the southwest corner of the intersection.

The work on the intersection will include:

adding lanes to the existing intersection installation of water, storm and sewer systems, sidewalk, traffic signals, lighting, new asphalt overlay, extruded curb and seal coat and milling existing asphalt

Construction work is currently planned to keep at least one lane of traffic open in each direction at the intersection. HK Contractors says that barring unforeseen circumstances all business should still be accessible during the construction. However, short-duration closures of individual accesses will be needed.

If you need to travel through the intersection during the work make sure to watch out for workers and equipment and follow traffic signs and reduce speed to posted limits.

The work is expected to take 3 months to complete

If you have questions about the work, you can contact HK Contractors at 208-523-6600.
